The Steering Committee for the 7th International Symposium on Beef Cattle Welfare (ISOBCW) is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the 2026 symposium.
ISOBCW convenes researchers, veterinarians, producers, industry leaders, educators, and policy stakeholders to advance scientific understanding and practical implementation of beef cattle welfare across production systems.
Students, post-doctoral scholars, faculty, and industry professionals are encouraged to submit abstracts related to beef cattle welfare. This is an open call for original research, applied field studies, systems-based analyses, and innovative approaches that contribute to the understanding, measurement, or improvement of welfare in beef production systems.

Abstracts for poster presentations are now being accepted.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
-
Behavioral and physiological indicators of welfare
-
Cattle handling and stockmanship
-
Facility design and management systems
-
Human–animal interactions and workforce development
-
Humane euthanasia and end-of-life management
-
Policy, market access, and regulatory considerations
-
Precision technologies and data-driven welfare monitoring
-
Public communication, consumer perspectives, and societal expectations
-
Transportation and marketing
-
Welfare assessment methodologies and audit frameworks
After Submission
Abstracts will be evaluated based on scientific merit, methodological rigor, clarity of objectives, relevance to beef cattle welfare, and practical applicability. Submissions should include a clearly stated objective, a concise description of methods, key findings, and a summary of conclusions or implications. Research may be published or unpublished but should represent recent work.
This is a competitive review process. Selected abstracts will be presented in a traditional poster format during designated poster sessions. Poster sessions will provide structured time for discussion and engagement among authors and symposium participants.
